I started Mountain Biking back in 06. After carefully evaluating my options and my budget, I decided to give Trek a shot. Boy did I make the right choice!! I purchased the Fuel EX8 because it seemed like the right bike for the price. Boy was I not mistaken. From the start, this bike gave me the confidence to attack any obstacle due to it's handling and balance. I believe that I've become a better rider since my early days due to this bike. For if it wasn't for it's well rounded capabilities, my learning curve would have been a lot slower. Overall, an AMAZING BIKE!!! Since purchasing this bike, I have graduated onto the Remedy 9.8 (but that's another story).

As a means of transportation to my area to workout I ride everyday as a means for exercise. The freedom to go any where at any time. Having the ability to commute to work and back. No getting stuck in traffic jams. No car note to pay. No insurance to pay. No gas to pay. I believe there are some design flaws with gear changing.

An awesome bike for a good price. Good choice for a down hill and up hill ride. It's an amazing bike. I'm very happy with the decision I made buying the Fuel EX 8 2001. Salud!

Dont hear anyone BS you - This is by far the best MTN BIKE for the money. I started mountain biking in early 2007. I could not have made a better decision than to buy myself a 2010 EX8. Its a heart pounding experience at every turn, fast and very smooth.

I had the stock cranks replaced with the XT crank and the bike is even better! It climbs with ease and I can ride over roots/rocks/bumps without getting thrown one way or the other. It is surprisingly nimble and smooth. My weakness has always been downhill technical sections, but with this bike I feel more in control because I know the suspension will ride over anything. The bike is heavier than what I am accustomed to though, but I just have to get used to it and improve my fitness level. I trail ride on the weekends. On my hard tail, I could only last 1.5 hours max, but with the Fuel EX8 I can ride for atleast 2.5 hours. I love the look, design and all the technology behind the 2010 Fuel EX 8! The ABP and evo link is the real deal, it is not a gimmic.

I bought this bike to replace my Giant Trance 1 which was a great Bike. I have ridden this bike about 20 miles now and am absolutely amazed at the difference the ACTIVE BRAKING PIVOT makes during high speed cornering under braking. This ABT system gave me a new level of confidence, my speed through trails that were mediocre on my Trance are now scary fast. The bike is also sexy in the flat black, almost stealth like. Also climbs really good and descends are great because no matter how fast I was coming down a hill, I always felt in control. The components work great, yes there are better, but for the money these are great and i was not disappointed. The Fox Shocks, do i even need to touch this" Best there is". I guess the only thing that I would Change about this bike would be the tires, if you ride over something small like a rock, the tire tends to kick out a bit more than usual but they ride fast which is good on paved trails and city riding. I suggest if you have the money to get this bike, shop around and you will see as I did that selection out there in this price range do not compare. Also when test riding it you WILL notice a ticking sound from the front wheel, this problem has been addressed by Trek and is an easy fix, just needs a little grease on the weld of the rim where it mates to the tire. Hope this helps, if you get this bike i am sure you will be just as happy as I am.

This bike has a lot of suspension especially when you really need to go over rocks or jumpy trails Some times when you want to jump over small trees stumps is really easy to make it go over them Well balance in the front the e2 does make a difference, RP-2 DRCV rear suspension is a big hit air can . Frame is light, avid elixir 5 brakes minimum force required for barking.
